Bermuda Yacht Services was delighted to be asked to host the second annual New York Bermuda Cruising Rally in June, 2009.
The growing rally was organized by Mr. Dan Goldberg of New York. A total of nine sailboats departed New York Harbor led by renown sailor Tania Aebi on S/V Avocation.
All boats had a good passage despite a few minor problems. Upon arrival to Bermuda the boats berthed at Bermuda Yacht Services in St George's Harbour. Captains and crew were greeted by friends and fans, and soon ashore discussing their voyage.
A great party sponsored by Burrows Lightbourn Ltd and Bacardi was held for the participants, family and friends at B.Y.S. Marina on the Saturday evening in somewhat rainy conditions. Maxine Adderly was the charming bartender again this year and appropriately served many "partly cloudys" as well as beer and wine.
The cocktail hour was followed by a barbeque dinner of traditional Bermuda peas & rice, salad and grilled fish cooked to perfection by Francis Mahoney, B.Y.S. Yard Manager.
Mark Soares, Owner & Manager of B.Y.S., spoke a few welcoming words and gave each competing boat a small token of appreciation.

A great time was had by all and Bermuda Yacht Services looks forward to hosting an even bigger rally in 2010.
