Bermuda Yacht Services has developed strong, lasting relationships with many local and international suppliers, allowing us the ability to seamlessly source your provisions and specialty items. In some cases, certain items may only be available for purchase in bulk quantities from wholesalers; in such an event a member of our team will be in touch to discuss your options.
With knowledgeable and experienced buyers on hand to help guide you through the process – we can fulfill any culinary requirement down to exacting detail.
Most of the wholesaler’s products we ship in come from the United States, however, there are several small suppliers that we work with in the United Kingdom, Italy and various other locations around the world.
In addition to dry goods, which arrive to Bermuda via ship, there are also daily flights from America, which bring in fresh fish, meats and produce to the Island.
Produce:
Did you know that only around 10-15% of Bermuda’s produce is grown locally? Due to the Island’s small size and limited open space and farmland, this local produce is usually in high demand. Though seasonal, these colourful, fresh items are worth looking out for at farmers’ markets and farm stands located at various spots around the Island. For more information about Bermuda’s seasonal produce, ask a member of our team for support.
fresh produce from the US generally arrives on the island late on Mondays and Thursdays so it’s best to order it on Sundays and Wednesdays. Fresh produce can be delivered to the vessel on Tuesdays and Fridays. Some items that can be a challenge are baby vegetables, edible flowers and some exotic fruits ,but let us know what you are looking for and we wil do our best to fill the order.
Meats:
Most meats are available in Bermuda from our suppliers. If you anticipate needing a large quantity or special brands or cuts it’s best to give us notice so that we can place a special order.
Dairy:
There is only one brand of fresh milk available in Bermuda and it’s from a local dairy called Dunkleys. They usually have whole, skim and (sometimes) 2% fresh milk. It comes in ½ gallon cartons. Lactaid, Oat and Almond milks are also available … or let us know if there is something specific you would like. If you plan to order a large amount of yogurts or other dairy products it’s also best to give some advance notice.
Fresh Fish:
Fresh Fish: Bermuda is surrounded by the sea but fish is quite seasonal: summer usually brings Tuna and Wahoo, Rockfish (Grouper) is a year round catch, and Spiny Lobster is also seasonal and only available September – March. The fishermen generally sell to restaurants and hotels and therefore generally sell the whole fish. Smaller quantities are sometimes available in supermarkets. Let us know if you would like some local fish – and keep in mind the catch is weather dependent. We have access twice a week to special order fish out of the US – ask us about the list which includes fresh Maine lobster, mussels, oysters and many other items.
Italian products:
We have an account with an importer that brings in products directly from Italy, these products include deli meats, pasta, olive oil and much more.
Frozen pastries, bulk items:
Frozen pastries, bulk items: There are a few local suppliers of frozen goods – let us know what you need and we can source and deliver it to you.
Beverages
Bermuda’s best known cocktails are the Dark & Stormy (a mix of Gosling’s Black Seal Rum with Ginger Beer) and the Rum Swizzle (a mix of rums and juices). (Should you wish a Swizzle recipe, feel free to ask Mark at BYS for his special blend.)
Additionally, BYS is proud to have relationships with all of the local suppliers of beverages and fine wines on the Island, offering our clients a generous selection from both the old and new world. On De Rock Craft Brewery is one option, which offers a selection of seasonal beers and ales that can be ordered by the Keg. This is a 100% Bermuda made craft beer.
If there’s any beverage you’re looking for that is not already on Island, there’s always the option of importing wines and spirits to Bermuda. However, please keep in mind that all items consumed on the Island are subject to import duty.

Importing your own provisions
Importing your own provisions is possible but not recommended, as there are many things on the embargo list which changes weekly. If you import embargoed items the whole order may be delayed. There is also a possibility that your order may be bumped from the flight especially in high season. Please note that there is no refrigerated storage at the airport. With enough notice we can source most items in Bermuda , some exotic fuits , baby veg and edible flowers can be difficult but check with you agent to see what is available.
Flowers
BYS works with Bermuda’s best flower importer and design studio to get our clients beautiful floral arrangements on request. Whether you’re looking for cut flowers by the stem or a dozen red roses, this can be arranged to meet your requirements. Please order as much in advance as possible to ensure you can get the freshest and most stunning bouquet.
